What does STFT mean?
STFT is a Fourier transform used to determine the sinusoidal frequency and phase content of local sections of a signal as it changes over time and also used to analyze music.
A small window is placed over the signal and the Fourier transform is computed only on the windowed signal is then moved over the entire signal. This adaptation is called the STFT.
This technique offers limited precision which is determined by the size of the window. So that wavelet analysis comes in. The wavelet analysis aims to tell us which frequency at what time.
