What is the MKV file format?
Matroska video files have the .mkv file extension. Similar to MOV and AVI, it is a container for videos that may have a limitless amount of audio, picture, and subtitle tracks. MKV was selected as the primary video container format for the well-known DivXplus program because it allows descriptions, ratings, cover art, and even chapter points. This format is frequently considered the carrier for high-definition internet video. It is possible to host a movie with several language audio tracks and corresponding subtitles in one MKV file, allowing the user to select the appropriate audio and subtitle format while watching the video. Because of this property, the MKB format can be quite practical.
